It is no secret that the battle is not amongst flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). It is no secret, that the enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy but the Word of God says that Jesus came so you can have life and have life more abundantly.
So how exactly do you have life more abundantly in the midst of a storm, in the midst of a situation or circumstances where all the odds are stacked up against you?
When your children are acting like they don't have sense or any home training, when your husband seems to not be cooperating or even available to help out, or when you feel like you can only wish for a man to be a son to your Father and to love, honor and respect you because you have been on the singleness journey for so long that you have become discouraged about ever getting married. Or when family members are dying unexpectedly left and right; and when the test results are coming back unfavorably and the folks at work are putting unrealistic expectations on you, demanding this and demanding that and you feel like you are one demand away from a breakdown. How exactly do you live life more abundantly then?
The key to living life abundantly and living life above and beyond what you could ever think or imagine is by getting full coverage!
Just as you should not drive a car that does not have the proper coverage and you should ensure you have the proper homeowners insurance so when that accident happens, the hurricane or flood comes, you are covered.
Now a car is made of all types of medal/steel, rubber and durable parts and it still needs full coverage; how much more do you need to ensure you have the full coverage each and every day?
If a house made of steel beams, concrete and bricks needs this type of protection, how much more do you, made from flesh and blood, need to ensure you have full coverage?
The coverage I am talking about is the full armor of God. The armor will give you the protection you need to guard your heart and mind during a spiritual battle. The armor will give you the confidence that anything you ask in the name of Jesus, will be done for you. The armor will give you the confidence to know although the enemy encamps all around you, no harm will be done to you because you have full coverage!
There are 6 Essential Parts You Must Have in Your Coverage Plan to Win a Spiritual Battle!
1.) The Truth (God's Word)
Make sure you strap up your waist with truth by reading God's Word (which is the foundation of your relationship with Christ). Just as the foundation of a home is the most important part of the house, standing on God's word is the most important part of your coverage plan. This is what keeps you grounded and what reveals to you the truth. John: 8:31-32 when you abide in the Word of God and God abide in you, you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.
2.) Your Breastplate (Your Identity in Christ)
Then you must put on the breastplate of righteousness which covers you in Christ identity. You will be Christ-like bearing much fruit from kindness, to gentleness, patience, and meekness. You will extend grace to others just as the Heavenly Father extends grace to you. This includes forgiving those who wronged you. You do not have time for unforgiveness as it will hinder your prayers.
3.) Your Steel Toes (Peace in Christ)
You will have trials and tribulations so be sure to strap your feet with the gospel of peace. Sometimes everything will be all good and other times it will seem like everything is all bad; so you won't find peace in your circumstances but through Christ Jesus and Christ Jesus alone you will find peace.
4.) Your Shield (Unwavering Faith)
Take the shield of faith with you every where you go. This will guard you from all the darts of Satan. People will say things that hurt you or that offends you but they will not be able to harm you, people will do things to attack you in the natural and in the spirit but they will not be able to harm you because you have full coverage. The shield of faith gives you the confidences that although the enemy will come near you, that nothing will be able to harm you.
5.) Your Helmet (Your Salvation)
Then you take the helmet of salvation. The helmet protects your mind. Don't allow your mind to become the devils playground. Take captive every negative thought the enemy tries to penetrate in your mind (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). When the ugly head of self-doubt and fears enters your mind or when the thought that your past sins are too big for God to forgive; don't entertain it, don't dwell on it, release it and think of things that are good and lovely.
6.) Your Sword (Your Weapon)
Use the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, to press your way through the storm and setbacks. With the sword, you can defend the enemy at the front door before he ever has a chance to enter your dwelling.
Having the whole armor of God will not protect you from experiences trials and tribulations. Just as having insurance will not protect the car or house from all harm or damage but the coverage will provide you with the resources to make the necessary restoration to bring your car or house back to its original condition. Let the true be told, often times the restoration will leave the car or house in even better condition than it was before the accident or storm.
Trials and tribulations will come to test your faith but with your coverage plan, you will walk away with a testimony that can bless someone else and make you even stronger and better than you were before.
The Word of God tells us that in our weakness, He is made strong. Meaning when you fall back, stand-down, God is able to do mighty works in your life.
I charge you today to never leave your house without full cover; put on the full armor of God.
Strapping yourself with the Word, will encourage your spirit; with the breastplate you will never have to wonder who you are or look for the approval of others, you will be confident of who you are in Christ Jesus; with your steel toes, you will be able to rest in the peace of God knowing that He has ALL power in His hand, with the shield you will starve your fears and feed your faith knowing that the Father will do exceeding above and beyond what you could ever think or image; with the helmet of salvation, your mind will be protected from any negative, perverse, or self-seeking thought that enters your mind; and with your sword when the devil start to act a fool, you can cut Him with the Word of God. After you are all strapped up, you can go out boldly knowing that any situation or circumstance that comes your way, you have the coverage to conquer it.
