Are you Spiritually Burnt-out?

Have you ever been in a place where you felt spiritually burnt-out? You go to church week after week; committed to reading, meditating and studying the word; worship, prayer, praise and pray some more. From what you can see; you are doing a really great job at serving God and His people but for some reason you still feel frustrated, unfulfilled, empty and sometimes even unhappy? If this is you; put one hand up; two hands up and stand up like my girl, Lisa Nichols will say because breakthrough is available for you right here, right now!

Trust me, I can relate to you on so many levels because I too have been there and in that moment, I questioned God as to how I can be doing everything right but still feel like something is missing. How can I do what is required of me as a believer and make all the necessary commitments but still have struggles? Is this you on today? Come on; don’t leave me out here by myself feeling like I am the only one.  What I have found to be true when I get to this place of feeling spiritually burnt out is to reevaluate my Why!  All too often, we do what we do out of obligation or a commitment that we made.  Our lives become so repetitious; what we do, what we eat, where we go, who we hang out with…it becomes so systematic to the point; we simply forget to have fun and enjoy the journey.  Other times, we simply fail to change things up a bit to experience something new.  I have found that it is absolutely necessary to be intentional about being intentional on our journey.

It is not enough for us to live life out of routine or even to serve Christ out of routine.  God doesn’t want your prayer, praise and worship if you are doing it out of obligation. He wants it out of obedience to His word and love for Him and His people.  He wants you to be honest with Him when you are feeling down, low or not at 100%; trust me it is ok to let Him know how you feel even if you think you aren’t supposed to feel that way.  In addition, it is pivotal that you to stay connected with your spiritual sister(s) or mentor to let them know where you are or what type of day/week you are having.  Trust me if they are Staying Plugged to the Power Source as my girl, Micah would say; they are able to stay engaged with you and help you push through those moments.  If I told you that every day of my life, I felt absolutely Amazing; I would be lying to you. Lord knows I have my days, but I am at a point in my walk when I know what is about to hit before it hits. And because I know that; I am able to immediately reevaluate my why.

(some of my sisters that keep me grounded)
So here are 5 Things I want you to do if any or all of this resonates with you.

1.       Reevaluate your Why? Why am I doing what I am doing and who am I committed to?
2.       Remember to Enjoy the Journey! Serving God is supposed to be fun, exciting and refreshing NOT depressing, lonely or frustrating!
3.       Recall how Great God is and how fulfill you are as a Believer and Servant to God. Don’t allow happenings in your life and relationships depict your attitude toward God and your Purpose!
4.       Don’t serve God out of Routine but serve Him out of love and obedience!
5.       Don’t mistake Religion for Relationship.  God’s wants us to have a relationship with Him and it is ok if we have normal, humane moments!

When you get to the place of “I am over it”; “I don’t want to do this anymore”; It’s not worth it”…..and begin disconnecting yourself from life and purpose; incorporate these 5 Things mentioned above.  I can’t guarantee that you will never feel like giving up or that you will never ever again feel burnt out but what I can guarantee is that you will be able to counteract those thoughts and feelings head on in staying committed to Christ and your Purpose in Him.
